What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

In India, before reaching 10th standard 63% of children are getting dropped out from school due to various reasons. Most of these children are from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, religious minorities, esp. Muslims, Persons with disabilities (PWDs), and backward communities from the remote rural areas of the poorest regions of India. Once they get dropped out they do not have any opportunity for skill development and finally they land up in unorganized sector for employment with low wages.

How will this project solve this problem?

AEA has promoted iLEAD (Initiative for Livelihood Education And Development) program in the year 2005 to enhance the employability and entrepreneurship skills among youth in the age group of 18-35 years through short term accelerated skill trainings in new and various emerging occupations. The project aims at reducing the number of people living below poverty line by tapping market driven employment opportunities for unemployed and less educated youth

Potential Long Term Impact

Creating entry level employment opportunities for marginalised youth Bringing about a reduction in the number of people living below poverty line Enhancing & providing necessary inputs for personality development, life skills and forward and backward linkages to ensure sustainability in health and education & better quality of life Creating a cadre of youth who become social change agents Helping trained youth having exceptional aptitude and interest to emerge as successful entrepreneurs
