"Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life, but define yourself." This quote by Harvey S. Firestone is the message behind our service project. In our service project we wanted to make a change for a brighter future by trying to stop bullying in our community. Teens will research bullying and develop a play that they will then present to other teens, educating both themselves and other teens about bullying prevention.
Bullying today is one of the major issues faced by youth. Many youth don't know what to do if they themselves are bullied to how to respond if they see someone being bullied.
This project aims to address the problem of bullying our community. The teens project is a original, realistic, poignant play on how bullying affects our community and the necessity to stop bullying in our Community. The outpouring of support from the community meant so much to us that we are even more motivated to continue on this pursuit for a change for a brighter future. Teens will research and write a play and then present that play to other youth in the community.
The impact of our project is measured on the positive response of the audience ultimately resulting in several requests to take this project one step further and continuing to present our service project "It's Not Easy Being Me" to other events in the community.
